METS Canvas:

  • Spell “METS” in reflective tape on the large white canvas (use the middle 3rd of the canvas). Estimate the size of the pieces needed for the letters (such as the first / line in the letter M), and then use that as a guide for the mirrored lines (e.g. using the / line as a guide for the \ line in the letter M, so that the letter has equal sized pieces). Repeat this process for all parts, so that all letters are roughly the same size.

  • Once you have successfully spelled out METS, buy some burlap fabric from Hobby Lobby or any craft store, and cover the letters so that they can't be seen by just looking at the canvas.

      • You may have to cover the canvas twice with the burlap if you can still see the METS letters after the first layer

Cube Canvas:

  • Find center of small canvas (order the same size on Amazon or find at Hobby Lobby/Michaels) and place the center of the cube in the center of the canvas. Use a sharpie to mark the corners of the cube on all 4 sides.

  • Using these marks as a guide, place pieces of painter’s tape inside the sharpie-marked square so that the perimeter of the cube is clearly defined.

  • Use red paint around the outside of the painter’s tape to clearly mark the perimeter of the cube. Once dried, you should have a square for guests to hold to cube against (with a white middle background) for them to look through the cube and ascertain the words SAFE and ROOF using the respective sides.

Cube Stickers:

  • When placing stickers on a cube, it's easiest to peel off some of the backing at the top of the sticker, then lining up the sticker so that it will sit squarely on the side of the cube that you are working on, and finally working the sticker down slowly (making sure to not peel off the backing fully until you are at the bottom of the acrylic cube). This will help to make sure there are no air bubbles in the sticker, and that your sticker is straight.

Laser Mirrors:

  • Use a drill bit that has a larger diameter than the screw that you will be using but a smaller diameter than the screw head of that screw. This will allow the screw to bite into the wood for the door, but not to put too much pressure on the acrylic as you screw it down.

  • Gently drill into the acrylic, making sure to not screw too fast or put too much downward pressure on the mirror, as this can crack the acrylic. Line up the mirror on the door to make sure that it is in the center of the door, and use a level to make sure that it is straight across.

  • *Also, you will need to make sure that the laser still corresponds to the correct number sequence on the wall for the code for the safe.

TRAR Cord Replacement:

  • Purchase a thin metal cord at Lowe’s (usually found in the rope and cord aisle). In the same aisle, you can also find a “Stop and ferrule kit”, with the same diameter as the metal cord. You can loop the cord through the eye hook at the bottom of the work desk in the room, and use the stop and ferrule kit to close off the open ends of the cord once the proper distance from the eye hook to the metal ring (once the ring passes over the proper letters) has been achieved.
