Island Escape

Wine Cork:

  1. The corks for the wine bottles are slightly too large for a good fit. Shave small bits off the outside of the cork, rotating it and flipping it upside down frequently so that it is relatively even all the way around. Be very careful during this process.

  2. Test the cork to see if it fits in the wine bottle as well during this process (the cork should fit snugly in the bottleneck, so it can be pulled from the bottle using the handkerchief, but will not fall out of its own accord).

  3. Use a drill bit to hollow out a bit of the middle of the cork, and then lightly hammer the key down into the cork, so that only the top of the eyelet of the key is showing. The key should fit snugly in the cork, but will wear out over time.

Banana Riddle:

  • Write steps riddle on one banana in black sharpie:

    • “So many you take from morning to night, everyday is the same, the more you take, the more you leave behind.”

Blacklight Maze:

  • Write the numbers on maze in pink blacklight marker (see attached image).

Ping Pong Balls

  • Draw dots on ping pong balls across the equator of ball:

    • 1st ball: 3 dots

    • 2nd: 1 dot

    • 3rd: 7 dots

Banana Colors:

We recommend purchasing samples of blue, orange, green, and red paint from either Lowe’s or Home Depot. This tends to last a bit longer on the bananas than sharpie. On each banana:

  1. Write “BLUE” in green paint

  2. Write “RED” in orange paint

  3. Write “ORANGE” in blue paint

  4. Write “GREEN” in red paint

  5. Once the paint is fully dry, use a small drill bit to drill a hole through the stem of the banana, making sure it isn’t too close to the very top or either of the sides (if it is too close, the ring will rip out from the banana).

  6. Bend the keychain rings a bit so that the ring wraps fully through the newly drilled hole.

  7. Angle the keychain ring so that it sticks straight out from the bananas and fill the entirety of the hole with super glue. This sets the rings in the banana, and helps the banana last longer in the box.

  8. Write “The number of letters is the code” on a separate banana with sharpie, and repeat the process above for securing the keychain ring in the banana.

  9. Set 4 digit lock “4365”, and use the paint in the same manner as the sharpie shown in the picture attached.

Flag Drop:

If your flag box is getting stuck upon the release of the magnets, install some cabinet poppers along the inside of the box. These will help the box to fully open once the magnet has been released, and for the flags to drop immediately. These poppers have been used at various locations.

Polarized Glasses:

If the polarized glasses need replaced, order this set.

  1. Remove the front plate for the glasses that holds the lenses in place

  2. Flip the lenses in reverse (so that the one on the right eye is backwards in the left frame and the one in the left eye is backwards in the right frame). The image on the screen should appear as normal!

Cabin Monitor:

If your screen for Island needs replaced, order this monitor. Any 22” monitor will work, but a cheaper model will be best, just in case the screen gets damaged during some of the following processes.

  1. Remove the front plate for the screen then peel off the polarized film layer that is on the screen using a blade to get the peel of the film started.

    • This is a difficult and delicate process, so it may take some time to get it started without damaging the screen. It also may come off in strips that are around 2”, but generally once the screen is started, it becomes easy to pull off.

  2. You may also need to mount the monitor to the counter in the cabin (which should hide the cables coming from the monitor as well), so you might need to purchase a monitor mount.
